Seasonality and the effect this has on TV adverts

In this blog i am investigating what types of adverts do you see you see throughout the year because they vary signifially throughout the year.

The figures are the highest in December because of Christmas. The amount of television which people watch on average in a day is 3:43 Mins.

January- The viewing figures are low in January and are the cheapest time of the year to advertise. The adverts which would be shown at this time of year would include the Churchill advert which they use at this time of the year because it would be the cheapest.

February- In February the adverts are mostly about Valentine’s Day and gifts for Valentine’s Day items such as perfumes and chocolates. An example of this would be this perfume advert which shows that they would show this advert during this period to make the most sales.

March-April- In this time of the year there are Easter adverts on the television and this is a good time for advertising because the viewing figures in this year are decent. An example of this would be the Aldi bunnies advert and they have used this advert to show their prices and they have also used this advert to show the adverts in the march/April time.

May- Average figures

June/July/August- Summer clothing and items are advertised in this year there are also ice cream adverts which attract the people to go out and buy these items at this time of year. An example of this would be the Audrey Hepburn advert which would be shown at this time of the year.

September/October- Back to school items and clothing is advertised at this time of year. This would be the time of the year which they would show adverts like these to get the parents of the children to purchase the back to school requirements.

November- The adverts for Christmas items start as the viewing figures at this time of year increase as people would want to buy presents at this time of year. John Lewis would use this time of the year to promote this advert and they would use the Christmas time to show these adverts and get customers for their products.

Valentines Day
On Valentines Day there are a lot of perfume adverts which influence the audience to buy Valentines Day presents which would include chocolates and perfumes and they have made sure that around February time there’s adverts, which advertise perfumes and chocolates.

The advert is mainly aimed at women but the advert has both men and women in the advert and they are all wearing ralph Lauren to show their line of clothing and the advert also shows the people wearing luxury brands and using luxury branded sports cars to show that they are quite rich. The advert is cleverly done because it advertises the perfume and ralph Lauren line of clothing. The advert has the same amount of men as the women wearing ralph Lauren clothing which shows that men will also be interested in the advert as well the women but the actual perfume which the advert is for is aimed at women. They have made the advert almost 2 in 1 to make sure that it is for both types of audience. Advert is set in a nice summer day and they have used beautiful people in the advert to show a wealthy lifestyle. The people in the advert are playing polo which is associated as a rich people's sport and they have done this to show that when you buy ralph Lauren, you’re paying for the lifestyle and not just the clothing.
